Cambria Hotel, 515 Somerville Avenue
Verdant Landscape Architecture provided full landscape architectural services for the Cambria Hotel at 515 Somerville Avenue, supporting the project from Schematic Design through Construction Administration. Working closely with the project team, the landscape design enhanced the guest experience while strengthening the surrounding streetscape.
Streetscape improvements along Somerville Avenue and Laurel Street introduced street trees, seating, bicycle accommodations, and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks that reinforced walkability and public life. A carefully designed hotel drop-off created a clear and welcoming arrival, featuring special paving, integrated planters, accent lighting, and coordinated site furnishings.
Outdoor restaurant seating extended the hospitality experience into the public realm with defined yet open gathering spaces, enhanced by planting, screening, and integrated lighting. Throughout the site, planting and trellis elements softened driveways, walkways, and service areas, balancing operational needs with visual quality.
Sustainability was integrated throughout the design, including support for LEED Silver certification, coordinated site lighting, and stormwater pretreatment strategies where applicable.
Together, the landscape elevated the Cambria Hotel as an inviting, pedestrian-oriented destination and an active contributor to Somerville’s evolving urban fabric.
