Iris Hotel, 30 Webster Street

Verdant re-envisioned the landscape at the hotel’s formal entry at 30 Webster Street, transforming the front yard along Webster Avenue into a welcoming, pedestrian-focused arrival. The completed design refined circulation and amenity layout to improve access, usability, and the overall guest experience.

Permeable unit paving was incorporated throughout the entry sequence, supporting sustainability goals and aligning with Planning Board priorities. A unified design language—coordinated with the adjacent Marriott Hotel paving—strengthened continuity along the street and reinforced a cohesive public realm.

The landscape design established a clear pedestrian connection to the hotel patio, enhancing the communal setting for guests. Retaining walls, ramps, steps, and curbing were carefully integrated to resolve grade changes while providing accessible, level gathering areas. Select fencing and guardrail elements were introduced to define and privatize patio spaces without compromising openness.

Layered screening and ornamental plantings were selected to complement the surrounding neighborhood character, provide appropriate buffering, and soften the building edge. Working in coordination with Mistry Associates, Verdant prepared a comprehensive landscape plan that elevated the hotel’s entry experience and strengthened its presence within the Brookline streetscape.
