350 West Fourth Street, Boston

The landscape design for this project strengthens the public realm and enhances neighborhood connectivity across the block between West Fourth Street and Silver Street, one parcel west of E Street. The proposed development introduces approximately 60 residential units with integrated garage parking, organized around a shared open space that creates a meaningful outdoor amenity for residents while improving the surrounding streetscape.

Public realm improvements along West Fourth Street and Silver Street follow Boston Complete Streets guidelines, prioritizing pedestrian comfort, safety, and accessibility. Widened sidewalks, new and preserved street trees, integrated furnishings, and bicycle accommodations—including a potential Bluebikes station—support a walkable, transit-oriented streetscape. Stormwater-conscious planting strategies and durable materials reinforce long-term performance while softening the building’s street presence.

A central open space between the proposed building and the existing Bigelow Condominium serves as a shared neighborhood amenity, designed to accommodate a six-foot grade change through carefully coordinated grading and accessible circulation. This space offers seating, gathering and dining areas, landscape walls, layered planting, and accent lighting—creating a flexible outdoor environment that supports daily use and social interaction.

Landscape improvements at building entries, garage access, and service areas enhance legibility and reinforce a welcoming sense of arrival, while planting and screening strategies minimize the visual impact of utilities and operations.
