Private Residence, Wingaersheek

Perched on a three-quarter-acre beachfront site along Ipswich Bay, this coastal retreat is shaped by a deep respect for the surrounding dune landscape. The design celebrates the ease of seaside living while restoring and protecting the natural systems that define the shoreline.

Native, salt-tolerant plantings stabilize dunes, strengthen coastal buffers, and reinforce the site’s natural character. Informal, naturalistic paths weave through the landscape, guiding movement without disturbing sensitive areas and preserving long views to the water. Subtle screening enhances privacy while allowing the landscape to remain open, light, and connected to the beach.

Outdoor living spaces—including patios, decks, and a fire pit—are carefully positioned to balance comfort with conservation, creating places for gathering, relaxation, and year-round enjoyment. Parking and drive areas are seamlessly integrated using dune-friendly materials and plantings, maintaining an understated, informal coastal aesthetic.

The result is a resilient coastal landscape that feels effortless and enduring—one that restores the shoreline, protects Ipswich Bay, and offers a serene retreat where architecture, landscape, and nature exist in harmony.
